Was there a costume in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them that really caught your eye? If so, great, because it just won the Oscar for Costume Design.

Believe it or not, but the Harry Potter movies have never garnered any Academy Awards. Until now. With the third win at the 89th Academy Awards, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them picked up a gold statuette for Costume Design.

Colleen Atwood looked shocked as she stood to accept her fourth Oscar. The costume designer has won for ChicagoMemoirs of a Geisha, and Alice in Wonderland. But this year, the Academy Award was predicted to go to La La Land or Jackie.

Newt Scamander’s flowing robes and late 1920s style won over the hearts of the Academy. Prior to this, the other Harry Potter movies have been nominated for three awards: Best Original Music Score, Best Production Design and Best Costume Design for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s (or Sorcerer’s) Stone.

Fun fact about Ms. Atwood: she’s not only critically acclaimed for her cinematic work, but she designed all the costumes for My Chemical Romance — yes, she’s the genius behind The Black Parade — and also Flash, Arrow and Supergirl.

The past couple of winners for Best Costume Design are Jenny Beavan for Mad Max: Fury Road, Milena Canonero for The Grand Budapest Hotel and Catherine Martin for The Great Gatsby. The Academy has traditionally gone for poignant historical pieces and wild sci-fi works of art.

The 89th Academy Awards, hosted by late night host Jimmy Kimmel, are airing live right now. Be sure to tune in for the big hitters of the evening, including Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Picture!

Next: Suicide Squad is now an Oscar-winning film, and that’s alright
