Jamal Adams

S, LSU

Jamal Adams is a very good prospect, and on our board, he is the best available safety in this draft. While Malik Hooker of Ohio State is certain to go high in April, the Jaguars will likely go with Adams to fill the glaring hole in the middle of their secondary. Adams is going to be the kind of player who will come in and make a difference immediately, and the Jaguars need to fill their roster with players who can do just that.

This has been an eventful offseason for the Jaguars, who have put the Gus Bradley Era in the rear-view mirror. Doug Marrone is the new head coach of the team, and the organization brought in former head coach Tom Coughlin to run the football side of the operation. Coughlin is not going to take losing lightly, and has already been non-committal as to whether or not Blake Bortles is going to be the team’s starting quarterback next season.

The AFC South is loaded with talent at the quarterback position, so the Jaguars need to make the secondary a priority this offseason. Jamal Adams is going to be a guy who can sit back in the defensive backfield and make plays happen, which is good considering the team plays Marcus Mariota and Andrew Luck twice per season. Jacksonville was expected to be a playoff team in 2016, and with the right offseason, they may make good on that prediction in 2017.
