2. John Elway

John Elway has proven to be a very capable front office executive. With that in mind, it’s safe to say 2016’s 9-7 non-playoff season after the Broncos’ win in Super Bowl 50 will not cut it. Elway will not sit idle and allow Denver’s roster to deteriorate.

Elway aggressively built one of the best defenses in the league via free agency, and that unit has become the clear strength of the team. With mediocre to flat-out bad quarterback play over the last two seasons, finding a proven upgrade this offseason may be on Elway’s checklist. Any commitment to a competition between Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch for the starting job would easily go away if there’s an option out there.

As a quarterback that went most of his career without a Super Bowl win, and with some one-sided losses on that stage, Elway can relate to where Romo is at in his career. Manning, as I mentioned, seemed to find a kindred spirit in Elway when he considered signing with the Broncos and ultimately did so. Romo can easily do the same now, as he surely wants to win a ring before his career is over.
