Atletico Madrid vs. Bayer Leverkusen live stream: Watch Champions League online
By Adam Stocker
Bayer Leverkusen host Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon on Wednesday, March 15. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Atletico Madrid return to the Vicente Calderon with a comfortable 4-2 lead over Bayer Leverkusen in the side’s Champions League round of 16 tie. Atletico’s four away goals in the first leg will be very difficult for Leverkusen to overcome. However, after seeing Barcelona’s unbelievable comeback against PSG, Leverkusen are not eliminated yet.
After losing to Atletico in Champions League, Leverkusen lost 2-0 to Mainz and 6-2 to Dortmund. The three straight losses cost manager Roger Schmidt his job. Schmidt had been in charge of Leverkusen since the start of the 2014 season. Schmidt was replaced by former Turkey international and Hannover manager Tayfun Korkut.
If Leverkusen have any hope of advancing, they need to score early and often. The German side will lean on Mexican international Javier Hernandez. Hernandez leads Leverkusen with 10 goals in the Bundesliga. Winger Karim Bellarabi has battled injuries this year, but will need to produce offensively if Leverkusen are to advance.
Atletico Madrid sit fourth in the La Liga table. Diego Simeone’s side have only lost three times since the start of 2017 in all competitions. Antoine Griezmann scored in the first leg in Germany and will again be the focal point of the Atletico attack. If Griezmann can score another goal in the second leg, it would be very difficult to envisioning Leverkusen scoring at least four goals to advance.
