MLB The Show 17: Top 5 rated players at each position
Left field
1) Yoenis Céspedes, New York Mets – Céspedes is head-and-shoulders above the rest of the field at his position according to The Show staff with a 90 rating.
2) Ryan Braun, Milwaukee Brewers – One of the lone bright spots on a young Milwaukee roster this year, Braun starts the season at 87.
3) Michael Brantley, Cleveland Indians – Arguably the best left-fielder in the AL when healthy, Brantley is rated 86.
4) Gregory Polanco, Pittsburgh Pirates – Polanco starts out the season at 83 overall, but could be ready for a breakout year and might top this list by season’s end.
5) Alex Gordon, Kansas City Royals – Gordon rounds out this list with his overall talent and an 83 rating.
Center field
1) Mike Trout, Los Angeles Angels – The only position player with a 99 rating, The Show believes him to be the best in the game right now.
2) Starling Marté, Pittsburgh Pirates – Marté has made the switch to center for the 2017 and The Show staff expects much of him, as evidenced by his 87 rating.
3) A.J. Pollock, Arizona Diamondbacks – Hopefully his injury in 2016 will be an outlier for him, as fans will love playing with his 86 rating this year.
4) Lorenzo Cain, Kansas City Royals – Cain keeps the trend of talented Royals outfielders going with his 85 rating.
5) Christian Yelich, Miami Marlins – Another on this list who will be playing center field full-time for the first time this season, Yelich also has an 85 rating.
Right field
1) Mookie Betts, Boston Red Sox – A popular preseason pick for AL MVP, Betts has that and a 93 rating to live up to this season.
2) Bryce Harper, Washington Nationals – The top-rated right fielder in the NL begins the 2017 season with a 90 rating.
3) Giancarlo Stanton, Miami Marlins – He’s got all the power and defensive ability you could possibly want, but staying on the field will be key to improving upon his 88 rating.
4) Nelson Cruz, Seattle Mariners – His innings at this position might be limited, but as the rosters on The Show don’t carry a DH category, his 88 gets him on the list here.
5) Andrew McCutchen, Pittsburgh Pirates – McCutchen’s 85 rating gives Pittsburgh the undisputed best starting outfield in The Show 17.
