2017 NFL Draft: New York Giants 7-round mock
By John Buhler
Third Round
Why not go with back-to-back picks to help with the offensive line? A riser up many teams’ draft boards is San Diego State Aztecs guard Nico Siragusa. His 2017 NFL Scouting Combine has him projected to be a third-round pick. New York should consider grabbing him at No. 87.
There are three things that Siragusa has going for him into the draft process. San Diego State was one of the better Group of 5 teams when he played for the Aztecs. The team got better every year he was part of the program.
Siragusa could play three or four positions on an NFL offensive. Center and left tackle might be a stretch, but he has the necessary size to play at right tackle in addition to his normal role of guard The third thing to really like about Siragusa is that he blocked up front for the NCAA’s greatest career rusher in Donnel Pumphrey for years. New York needs all the help it can get in run blocking.
2017 does not look to be a great year for elite offensive line talent. Siragusa will not be a star up front for the Giants, but he can do a lot of things that will end up making this team’s offensive line more balanced in the coming seasons.
