Fifth Round

167

Connor Harris

Middle Linebacker, Lindenwood Lions

Middle linebackers are gradually becoming a hard player to find in NFL Drafts. The college game isn’t producing inside linebackers that can play with the speed and quickness to keep up in an increasingly passing centric league.

One guy that has impressed since his trip to the Senior Bowl is small-school linebacker Connor Harris of the Lindenwood Lions. Taking him at No. 167 in the fifth round would not be a bad move for the Giants to make.

Sixth Round

207

Chad Williams

Wide Receiver, Grambling State Tigers

Don’t the Giants have enough wide receivers? Maybe, but why not go after another one late in the draft just to see what happens. If New York needs anything from its wide receiving group, it might need a guy that can stretch the field with straight-line speed.

Chad Williams of the Grambling State Tigers could be that guy for the Giants at No. 207 in the sixth round. He’s physical, albeit brash. Williams could be a sleeper in the latter rounds with his overall passion for the game.

Seventh Round

241

Alek Torgersen

Quarterback, Penn Quakers

Eli Manning isn’t going to play forever. In the meantime, it would be advantageous for the Giants to look for his future successor. The Giants are a smart organization and they realize that franchise quarterbacks don’t grow on trees.

Penn Quakers quarterback Alek Torgersen could be worth a flier at No. 241 in the seventh round. He’d at least bring brainpower to the Giants quarterbacking room. Never overlook a Ivy League education at the quarterback position. It’s how the NFL found guys like Jason Garrett and Ryan Fitzpatrick.
