No. 1 – Chase Jeter

About five days ago the biggest transfer hit the market. Duke forward Chase Jeter announced he will transfer from the program and pursue his basketball career with another team.

Jeter is the biggest surprise in the transfer market to-date. He is a super talented player that just dealt with some injuries and that set him back while at Duke.

Coming out of high school Jeter was everything, though. He was a five-star recruit who was ranked as the No. 15 player in the class of 2015. He was wanted by many but only one blue blood snagged him and that was Duke.

As a true freshman, Jeter only saw 7.9 minutes per game. He wasn’t terrible in that time averaging 1.9 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. In his second season with the Blue Devils he played slightly better. He averaged 2.6 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.

Jeter didn’t play up to his hype the first two seasons with Duke. He was supposed to be a superstar player immediately but that didn’t happen. I do think he has a lot of talent still untapped, though.

There have been a few programs that have been rumored as potential landing spots for Jeter. Among the programs mentioned are Arizona State and Arizona, both of whom could use a player like him.

No matter where Jeter lands, he will have to sit out the 2017-18 season and then will have two years of eligibility remaining. He has tremendous upside and I am curious to see who gets this former five-star in the transfer market.
