Alexa Bliss defended her SmackDown Women’s Championship against a number of challengers at WrestleMania 33. Who left Camping World Stadium as champion?
The SmackDown Women’s Championship was defended for the very first time on the grandest stage of them all as Alexa Bliss took on every available female superstar from the blue brand on Sunday night at WrestleMania 33. Her challengers for the match were Becky Lynch, Mickie James, Carmella (who of course brought James Ellsworth down to the ring with her), Natalya and Orlando’s own, Naomi. So who left WrestleMania 33 as the SmackDown Women’s Champion? Let’s take a look at the highlights.
All six women attacked each other from the beginning with Naomi hitting the first big spot of the match on Natalya.
Natalya and Alexa worked together to hit a nice suplex on Naomi on the outside as Becky Lynch and Mickie James worked over one another in the ring.
Becky Lynch eventually got going and hit some nice suplexes, including one on James Ellsworth, who got involved a couple of different times in this one.
Naomi nearly botched a sunset flip but was able to hold on as Natalya simultaneously hit a German suplex on Becky.
Natalya put a double Sharpshooter on Naomi and Carmella but it was broken up by Mickie James, who then hit a nice DDT on Becky but it was broken up by Carmella.
Naomi then launched herself over the top rope onto the group on the outside but ran into a big right hand from Alexa upon reentering the ring but was able to still pull out a big victory by submission to once again become the SmackDown Women’s Champion and celebrated with her hometown fans afterwards.
With Naomi having to have the title taken off of her due to injury and still being able to make it back in time for the main event, there was really no other way this one was going to go.
