Patrick Mahomes II

Quarterback, Texas Tech

The Chicago Bears need to get a quality quarterback in a draft where there aren’t too many. Once you get past Mitch Trubisky and Deshaun Watson, there are very few passers who could be franchise guys. However, Patrick Mahomes II from Texas Tech has the tools to be one.

He’s sort of a project at this point, as he spent his entire college career playing in a spread offense. Mahomes needs to improve his mechanics. However, he probably has the most upside of any quarterback in the draft. Mahomes can make every throw you need to be a franchise QB and has great intangibles.

The Chicago Bears are perfect for him. They already have Glennon and Sanchez, which allows Mahomes to develop and grow. He won’t be rushed into a starting role he likely shouldn’t have. Mahomes is known for putting up passing numbers, but he’s quite mobile as well. Texas Tech needed him to put up huge points each week and he rarely disappointed.

Mahomes’ arm strength is a huge plus considering he’ll spent nine games a season throwing at either Soldier Field or Lambeau Field. His passes should have a lot of zip even when the stadium is a huge wind tunnel.
