The Chicago Bears will continue their offseason makeover at the 2017 NFL Draft. Here’s a seven-round mock draft that fills their needs.

After a 3-13 season in 2016, the Chicago Bears are looking to take some steps forward in 2017. They’ve already made some big changes, adding quarterbacks Mike Glennon and Mark Sanchez to replace the incumbent trio of Jay Cutler, Matt Barkley and Brian Hoyer. However, their biggest changes will like come courtesy of the 2017 NFL Draft.

The Bears are looking to add playmakers on both sides of the ball. They also need to add a young quarterback, as Glennon clearly isn’t a franchise guy. Chicago will have seven draft picks, including five of the first 120 and six of the first 150. They have the third, 36th, 67th, 111th, 117th, 147th and 221st overall picks. Here’s a mock draft which solves a lot of their needs and gives them a strong foundation moving forward.

Jamal Adams

Safety, LSU

Chicago has needs all over the field, so they’re picking the best player available. It appears that will be LSU safety Jamal Adams, the premier safety in the 2017 NFL Draft. Last year, their starting safeties combined for one interception. This isn’t acceptable and must change if they want to improve. Adams is a huge playmaker who will give the Chicago Bears secondary a much needed boost.

He has five interceptions over his past two seasons, showing an innate ability as a ballhawk. However, Adams is more of a strong safety than a free safety. He’s very tenacious and physical with a 6-foot-1 frame and weighing 211 pounds. While the Bears could use some help on their defensive line, neither Solomon Thomas nor Jonathan Allen have the ability to take over a game like Adams. His intangibles are off the charts and he should lead Chicago’s defense for many years to come.
