Ranking all 25 WrestleMania matches of The Undertaker

17. The Undertaker vs. Kane – WrestleMania XX
The Undertaker and his kayfabe brother Kane had battled six years earlier at WrestleMania XIV in a much better match, which is sad given the long build toward this match at WrestleMania XX.
At the previous year’s Survivor Series, Kane, who had been unmasked a few months earlier, had buried The Undertaker after interfering in the Buried Alive Match between ‘Taker and Vince McMahon. Pretty cool scene actually. Kane got himself in the title picture but lost a Triple Threat to Triple H (Goldberg was there as well), which forced him to have to take part in the Royal Rumble match to get another title shot. But during the bout, The Undertaker’s music distracted him and he was thrown out by Booker T. This led to a number of spooky segments, including one in which the ring was lifted off the ground with Kane in it, leading The Big Red Monster to demand a match at WrestleMania.
After all of that build, the two big men only got about eight minutes to work. And that came as part of four-and-a-half hour show so I’m not quite sure what all happened there. The Undertaker got the edge early and hit a couple of big spots like the leg drop on the apron and a corner splash followed by a clothesline. He went for the Last Ride but Kane flipped that into a backdrop to gain the upper hand. He hit his side suplex and the clothesline from the top rope but ‘Taker fought back with a running boot and a leg drop. All that’s missing is the three punches, am I right?
Kane hit a chokeslam after avoiding “Old School” but The Undertaker sat up and hit his leaping clothesline, a chokeslam of his own and the Tombstone to pick up his second win over Kane at WrestleMania. 12-0.
