Jack Eichel calls out Sabres for attitude
Jack Eichel is starting to get sick and tired of losing.
Other than Cleveland, there might not be a more desolate sports wasteland than Buffalo. They have never won a major sports championship and the Buffalo Bills are more known for losing four straight Super Bowls than winning. The Buffalo Sabres have been one of the worst teams in the NHL over the past four seasons. 2015 second overall pick Jack Eichel has been a part of the past two. And he’s getting sick of losing.
"“I think guys want to win,” Eichel said, via Buffalo News. “But there’s a difference between saying you want to win and actually wanting to win and putting the work in and dedicating your life to it .That’s what a winning culture is, not being satisfied with yourself, not being satisfied with the fact that you’re losing.”"
The Sabres has a culture of losing. Perhaps this is due to their deliberate tanking. However, the Sabres lack of success is more due to their lack of ability to surround Eichel with the right talent. Their blue line is a complete mess and it’s hard to see them improving it much in an offseason with not many blue liners in free agency.

Buffalo hired Dan Bylsma as their head coach to try to shake them of this culture. But so far, he’s had no success doing so. The Sabres are wasting some of the best years of Eichel. They must win him over to ensure he’ll sign with Buffalo long-term.
Right now, Eichel wants to win but the Sabres aren’t showing they’re 100 percent committed to winning. If Buffalo doesn’t start winning soon, there could be some more huge changes coming. There might even be some this offseason.
