With the 2017 NFL Draft speculation at it’s apex, San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch continues to fuel trade rumors.

According to Michael David Smith of PFT, John Lynch stated the 49ers are willing to trade the second-overall pick if they receive an offer to their liking. The team has many holes to fill, and San Francisco has been identified as a prime candidate to move down in the draft to acquire additional picks.

Last week, there was further speculation the 49ers were interested in Leonard Fournette at second overall. However, Lynch is smart enough to know plenty of holes remain on the roster, and amidst talk of the Carolina Panthers and New York Jets being a possible destination for Fournette, it only makes sense to talk up the LSU product.

Interestingly, there is also a rumor that the Cleveland Browns are still undecided on who they will take with the first-overall selection, which complicates any potential trade the 49ers may be considering. Lynch will certainly be kicking himself if he trades the second-overall pick only to find out he could have had the draft’s best overall player, Myles Garrett, fall right in his lap.

The 49ers have a litany of needs, including quarterback. However, with none of the signal callers being worth a top-10 choice, perhaps Lynch tries to trade down and get into position for either Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson or Mitch Trubisky.

With all the smoke being blown, it is unlikely San Francisco would trade the second overall pick before Cleveland makes it’s first selection.  If the 49ers are going to make a deal, we may have to wait until April 27 to find out.
