With the NFL Draft less than three weeks away, the only lock seemed to be Myles Garrett to Cleveland with the No. 1 overall pick. According to a report, that may be in jeopardy.

The consensus seems to agree that Texas A&M’s Myles Garrett is the best overall prospect in this draft and has the potential to be a perennial All-Pro. With no can’t-miss quarterback prospect in this draft either, most draft experts began to believe that Garrett would be a lock to the Browns at No. 1.  So much so, that even Garrett went on to add this week that he’ll “punish the Browns” if they don’t take him at No. 1 overall.

Around the time of the NFL Combine, there were rumors that the Browns were in love with QB Mitch Trubisky. But would Trubisky last till the Browns’ second pick in the first round at No. 12? Not so sure, especially with quarterback-needy teams, such as the Bears and Jets ahead of the Browns.

With that said, would the Browns consider taking a quarterback over the best overall prospect in this draft? The analytics would say no, but Browns’ head coach Hue Jackson could be pushing strongly for Trubisky.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Browns are still undecided on who to take at No. 1 overall.

Based on Schefter’s comment on split opinions, the prediction would be that the analytics guys are siding with Garrett, while Jackson and the offensive coaches are vouching for Trubisky. This report would also indicate the Browns believe that Trubisky won’t make it to No. 12 overall, so they’re considering passing up on Garrett for Trubisky.

This is the time that rumors tend to fly, and if I were to guess, I still think that the Browns take Garrett. All these rumors add to the hype and mystique of the draft, but this rumor likely won’t actually happen.
