30 worst NBA playoff teams of all time
28. 2008-09 Detroit Pistons
After their reign of terror over the Eastern Conference had come to an end, the Detroit Pistons basically flipped positions with the teams they beat up on. Most people probably don’t remember the Michael Curry-coached Pistons well.
That’s because they won 39 games in the 2008-09 season. They also got to feel what every other team felt going up against them over the years leading up to that. Detroit was quickly swept by LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
James had taken over the Eastern Conference and although he wasn’t at the pinnacle he is now, he had solved his Detroit problem. Off the Pistons went into the forgotten world that is being mediocre in the Eastern Conference.
Almost a decade later, they’re hanging around in the same spot but with players that have potential. It’s a little more exciting for the team now than it was then, but it’s no coincidence their most recent playoff team got swept by LeBron James and the Cavaliers as well.
