Shaq blames WWE for Big Show WrestleMania 33 match not happening
By Jack Crosby
Shaq finally spoke out about the proposed match with Big Show at this past WrestleMania in Orlando
We were led to believe for just about a year that a match between Shaq and the Big Show would be happening at WrestleMania in Orlando earlier this month. It was set up with a showdown between the two in Dallas the year prior in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, and as the year went on it did seem like a foregone conclusion.
Well, after all the back-and-forth banter and whatnot, the “dream match” never ended up taking place, leaving Big Show in quite the awkward position, to be honest. With the match being scrapped, naturally this has led many fans out there to wonder why exactly these two giants didn’t have the clash we thought we were going to see.
If you believe Shaq, who has finally spoken out about the whole ordeal after remaining silent on the matter for quite some time, it was all WWE’s fault.
The NBA legend and current TNT analyst appeared on The BIG Podcast, and when asked about why things were never really able to come together, the blame was placed solely on the way the company handled things.
“Because they kept playing,” Shaq said. “First, they said it was me and Big Show. Then, they said it was going to be 3 and 3. Then, they cancelled it so when they cancelled it, I made other arrangements. And then they tried to call back and tried to get it done, and I just said, ‘I’m not going to do it.’ They messed it up.”

To further prove that he was more than willing to participate in the angle and subsequent match for WrestleMania, Shaq would later go on to admit that should it have gone down, he would’ve had no problem doing the job for the Big Show either.
Did everyone want to see this match take place? No, not really. But WrestleMania is the biggest attraction show of the year for WWE, and a match between these two would have been a fun attraction to see. Now we just have to wonder what could have been — apparently thanks to WWE not being able to make up their minds about something. Shocker.
