4. Nail the Draft

After the T-Wolves trade Rubio to get the Kings’ tenth overall pick in this scenario they have some choices to make. Do they try to find Rubio’s replacement, or do they go in a completely different direction?

With the sixth pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves should select Malik Monk to provide a scoring spark off of the bench for a team desperately in need of just that. With a tenth pick, a lot of people would be looking for the Timberwolves to be going after Lauri Markkanen. He could give them that stretch four that the Timberwolves have been looking for, but he is also a defensive liability and heaven knows that is the last thing the Timberwolves need.

Another possibility is D.J. Wilson out of Michigan, a 37.3 percent 3-point shooter that is very fluid at 6-foot-10 and has all the tools to become an elite rim-protector at the next level. He is a late bloomer and will take time to develop but then again, all of these Timberpups will. LaVine and Wiggins are 22, KAT and D.J. Wilson are 21, Dunn is 23, and Malik Monk is 19.

The initial returns will be slow but imagine that team all peaking at 26-27 after four years building chemistry and learning how to win.
