First Basemen

High Salary Option

Paul Goldschmidt ($4,900): Goldschmidt has owned Gonzalez in his career, pulling in hits in eight of his 12 career at-bats against him, which is good for a 1.583 slugging %. Considering the fact that he has been heating up of late, it makes him a massively good choice on the day.

High Value Option

Eric Hosmer ($3,800): Hosmer has hit over .400 lifetime against Mike Pelfrey, and considering the Royals first baseman has been coming into his own and combined with the fact that Pelfrey has stumbled against left-handed hitters so far, it’s a great pairing play.

Rank Em:

  1. Goldschmidt
  2. Hosmer
  3. Edwin Encarnacion ($3,900)
  4. Ryan Zimmerman ($4,700)
  5. Eric Thames ($4,700)

Third Basemen

High Salary Option

Manny Machado ($4,900): Manny is mad (very mad) at the Red Sox right now, and he could channel all of it against Drew Pomeranz on Wednesday night. He has homered three times over the past week, and something inside of me says he could be taking early (and often) aim at the Green Monster today.

High Value Option

Mike Moustakas ($3,700): He’s a borderline value option at this price, but he’s another Royal lefty who could pay out big dividends against the struggling Mike Pelfrey. Save a few bucks and bid big elsewhere on a day where you could afford to go away from a top option on the hot corner.

Rank Em:

  1. Machado
  2. Kris Bryant ($5,000)
  3. Jose Ramirez ($3,900)
  4. Miguel Sano ($4,200)
  5. Moustakas
