The Los Angeles Kings have re-signed Tanner Pearson to a four-year, $15 million deal.

Tanner Pearson has re-signed with the Los Angeles Kings on a four-year deal. This contract will see him earn $3.75 per year. This shouldn’t, however, be surprising for anyone who has been following Pearson.

Pearson had his best year yet with the Kings this season, scoring a career high 24 goals. He added 20 assists to his tally, which is the second highest assist tally of his career. The 44 points that Pearson had this season is eight points higher than his previous career high set in 2015-16.

Another impressive statistic of note is the lack of penalty minutes that Pearson had on the season. In 80 games this season, he had a minuscule 13 penalty minutes, speaking volumes to the discipline that Pearson brings to the ice.

The 24 goals he netted this season was also good for second on the Kings roster, trailing only Jeff Carter (32). Pearson’s 44 points on the season was also good enough for third on the Kings, trailing only Anze Kopitar (52) and Carter (66).

With those 44 points this season, Pearson now has 54 goals and 49 assists for 103 points in 226 NHL games since being draft 30th overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by Los Angeles.

To get a better idea of the deal, CapFriendly rounded up a few names from around the league with comparable contracts. The first name was Cody Eakin of the Dallas Stars, who had three goals and nine assists in 60 games this season. The second name was Jakob Silfverberg of the Anaheim Ducks, who had 23 goals and 26 assists in 79 games. And the third on the list was Lars Eller, who had 12 goals and 13 assists in 81 games this season.

When comparing Pearson alongside those names, it becomes apparent that he is well worth the pay raise that the Los Angeles Kings gave him.
