3. Cleveland Cavaliers

The best player in the league is also secretly the Cavaliers general manager. I’m obviously talking about LeBron James, as there is no denying his ability to sway the teams front office into making moves to suit his liking. The Cavaliers are poised to repeat as NBA championships this season, but if they don’t, it’s possible James campaigns for the Cavaliers to trade for his best friend, Carmelo Anthony.

Cleveland has already been involved in numerous trade rumors surrounding Anthony, so this shouldn’t come to a surprise to many. The Knicks have wanted Kevin Love in return from the Cavs, but it was made clear that he is off the table. Still, with the Knicks getting desperate to deal Anthony, they could eventually accept a deal for players like J.R. Smith, Iman Shumpert, or maybe even Channing Frye.

Anthony is significantly better than those players, but they could still help the Knicks right away. Anthony again has a no-trade clause, so he could force a deal if he is reluctant to accept a trade else where. Pairing Anthony with Cleveland’s big three would certainly allow him to potentially obtain his first NBA championship, and it would put LeBron James as the favorite for the NBA’s Executive of the Year Award.
