Tommaso Ciampa is scheduled for a tag team title match at NXT TakeOver on Saturday, but reportedly suffered an injury at a live event on Thursday.

DIY and The Revival were both some of the biggest tag teams in wrestling in 2016, but it looks like both have some injury woes ahead of them with DIY’s Tommaso Ciampa reportedly suffering an injury at an NXT live event Thursday.

At an event in Highland Heights, it looks like Ciampa got hurt in his match against SanitY while tagging with Johnny Gargano.

According to multiple fan tweets from those in attendance, Ciampa had to be helped to the back by officials after a referee threw up the dreaded “X” and stopped the match. No word is out as to what type of injury it is or how severe it is at this point, but hopefully it’s nothing serious.

Ciampa and Gargano are currently scheduled to compete in just a few days at NXT TakeOver: Chicago, as they are looking to regain the NXT Tag Team titles from the Authors of Pain in a ladder match on Saturday.

If the injury is serious and keeps Ciampa out of action, it would be a deadly blow to what would be a stacked card. Alongside the tag team title match is Bobby Roode and Hideo Itami battling for the NXT Championship, Tyler Bate defending the WWE United Kingdom Championship against Pete Dunne, and Asuka defending her NXT Women’s title in a triple threat match with Ruby Riot and Nikki Cross.

Obviously, the card could carry itself without the tag match, but DIY’s potential absence from the card would be a huge one. Hopefully the injury isn’t too serious, and Ciampa can utilize the next two days to recover before competing on Saturday night.
