Rams Get
Tight End Richard Rodgers
Packers Get
2018 4th Round Pick

The Los Angeles Rams have a long way to go before they are actually a relevant franchise in the NFL, but they are headed in the right direction. The future of the franchise will depend on what kind of step quarterback Jared Goff makes in year two, and the Rams are expecting him to be fine. Without a first round pick in 2017, the Rams had a subpar draft, so they need to make a trade to bolster the roster.

One area where they need help is at tight end, where they need a player who can take some of teh pressure off of Goff in the passing game. Richard Rodgers is a player who could be moved by the Green Bay Packers, as they spent money by bringing in Martellus Bennett to play the position in 2017. Rodgers has done a nice job as the second option at the position for the Packers in the past, but a fresh start with the Rams may be what he needs.

The Rams have draft picks in 2018, and they could certainly afford to send a fourth-rounder to Green Bay for Rodgers’ services. Los Angeles spent their first pick, in the second round on a tight end, but Gerald Everett may not be ready to make a difference early on. Rodgers would give the team the veteran they need at the position to bring Everett along, making the Rams better in the long run.

It should be another long season for the Rams, who figure to be picking early in the 2018 NFL Draft. If Goff takes a step forward, all is well, but another shaky season under center and this team may be in the business of drafting a quarterback again in 2018.
