2. Los Angeles Lakers — Magic Johnson

“Magic Johnson is a great addition to this team. He’s a proven playmaker who also now has a great track record of drafting,” Magic Johnson would tweet upon drafting himself. The NBA’s Perd Hapley may get a lot of grief on Twitter, but this pick isn’t terrible.

President of Basketball Operations Magic clearly isn’t a huge fan of D’Angelo Russell, as indicated by him always seeming a little tempted to leave him off of the Lakers’ list of young prospects and the buzzing trade rumors around the Ohio State product.

Los Angeles has other intriguing young players, and who better to get the best out of them than NBA Legend Magic? Besides, the infectious personality brought by both President of Basketball Operations Magic and NBA Legend Magic would make the Lakers a must-watch team again.

In his career with the Lakers, NBA Legend Magic averaged 19.5 points, 11.2 assists, 7.2 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game. He could switch across positions before that was even a thing people cared about, and he would likely do even more of that in this era.

Peak Magic led the NBA in assists four times and steals twice, while scoring somewhere around 20 points per game. In this era of point guards shooting more and passing less, maybe he averages something closer to 25 and nine. No matter what the numbers boil down to, both versions of Magic probably end up happy with this draft pick, as does Laker Nation.
