1. Stanford Tree

When it comes to the goofiest mascot, how many can truly say they belong in a forest? That is the case when it comes to the Stanford Tree. Noted for being on the side of the Cardinal’s helmet, the tree is a representation of the geography of the area.

Only one of the most academic universities in the world could have something so unique as a Tree for a mascot. Nonetheless, it’s the differences that make the mascot special and allows it to stand out from some heavyweight counterparts in the Pac-12.

In a conference where Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona State and others bring some major firepower to having the goofiest mascots, this Stanford Tree stands among the redwood trees that help define the Northern California landscape so eloquently.

Whether it’s the terrible eyes or the fact that it looks like it was designed by someone that wouldn’t even merit the consideration of the institution it represents, the Tree is beloved. How can it not be?

There are certainly many other mascots that could be considered the goofiest in all of college athletics as well. However, until the college sports landscape is filled with a garden of mascots that define nature, the Stanford Tree is the leader in the clubhouse.
