Terrance Ferguson

SG/SF, Adelaide

With Jonathan Isaac off the board to the Orlando Magic at No. 6, general manager John Hammond snags another prospect who fits the length and athleticism profile here at No. 25. Terrance Ferguson, a former 5-star recruit who played overseas last season, is a potential 3-and-D talent who needs to make some significant improvements based on his production in Australia.

Ferguson averaged just 4.6 points per game for Adelaide last season in a largely spot up shooting role. However, he only knocked down 31.3 percent of his triples over a small sample. Still, Ferguson is one of the youngest players in the draft with plenty of room to grow and it’s tough to emphasize how awkward it must be for such a young player to transition to professional basketball overseas.

Ferguson, at 6-foot-7, still has room to grow as a player. In high school, he was a well-respected 3-point shooter, suggesting that he should improve with a larger sample size. Ferguson’s athleticism could also be a major factor on defense. Although his wingspan measured shorter than expected at 6-foot-9, he should still be a harassing defender if he’s willing to exert the effort.

Hammond needs to build up the talent based in Orlando and Ferguson could be one piece to the puzzle.
