Music mogul Rihanna sat court side and stole the headlines for Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

The Golden State Warriors cruised to a 113-91 Game 1 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers at Oracle Arena. Tension and feuds between the two teams have dominated NBA headlines for more than a year. However, in Game 1 of the third Cavs-Dubs installment, the feud between Rihanna and the Warriors grabbed our attention.

Rihanna, sitting court side at Oracle Arena, first earned press when being mentioned by Jeff Van Gundy on a LeBron James dunk. Van Gundy pointed out that the Grammy winner had just walked by, distracting him from the epic slam. Little did we know, her night was just getting started.

Rihanna versus Kevin Durant

During a free throw attempt by Warriors forward Kevin Durant, Rihanna was caught yelling “brick!” at the “easy money sniper”.

Rihanna’s comment did not go unnoticed. After draining the free throw, while trotting back on defense, Durant took it upon himself to glare at the pop star.  But, he didn’t stop there.

Durant does not forget. The “Slim Reaper” holds grudges. Durant drained a 3-pointer a few possessions later and consequently stared down Rihanna once more, adding insult to injury with a shake of the head.

Rihanna versus the fans

As if feuding with an NBA superstar in front of his home crowd wasn’t bad enough, the singer took her hijinks a step further. The pop star, who was already becoming an outcast with Dubs fans, decided to embrace the public enemy.

Rihanna bowed to King James. Keep in mind, she’s sitting court side at Oracle Arena. As one can imagine, this act did not go over well with Golden State faithful. Throughout the display, a Warriors fan was allegedly shouting his or her disgust with the situation, heckling the famous musician and pleading with her to sit down.

As a result, the music star gave the fan a rather obnoxious wave and proceeded to dab, making fans over the age of 15 cringe. Additionally, if Rihanna’s foolery had not reached maximum petty levels yet, her post-game NSFW rant put her over the top.

Furthermore, the 29-year old voiced her support for James and the Cavs and has no problem letting anyone know it. While exiting the arena, the singer fended off comments with a simple response “the King was still the King”.

Back to Durant

The media had a field day with Rihanna’s antics during Game 1, so much so, Durant was asked about the singer during a post-game press conference.

When asked about the incident, Durant wiped his eye as if to dismiss the allegations. His face lit up in surprise when he learned the feud was trending on social media. “Have fun with that” was his final thought on the matter. Additionally, let’s take a moment to appreciate Rob Perez’s find; Steph Curry’s reaction. Curry probably had no clue there was a feud progressing and his reaction following the question was priceless.

Ultimately, Rihanna dominated headlines tonight.

Rihanna provided a bit of entertainment to a one-sided and rather boring Game 1, so boring that media members turned to the spelling bee for entertainment. So, thank you Rihanna. Thank you for providing fans with entertainment during an anticlimactic Game 1.
