Bill Belichick and Eric Mangini have a long history of animosty between them. Now Mangini wants to make it up to Belichick. Here are 5five ways to do that.

Ever since the Deflategate scandal rocked the Patriots’ empire, the Spygate scandal took a backseat. But that was the original Patriots’ black eye. Back in 2007, it came out that the New England Patriots, one of football’s premier franchises, were taping opponents’ practices, and it looked terrible.

The worst part about all of that it was a former Patriots’ coach that decided to let the NFL know about the taping. Eric Mangini worked as the defensive coordinator under Bill Belichick for years and then decided to leave the organization for a divisional foe. He joined the Jets and then ratted out the Patriots.

Ever since that point, the Mangini-Belichick relationship has been terrible, so bad that they haven’t spoke since the incident. Per ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Eric Mangini still feels terrible about the entire incident. Here’s what the ex-Jets’ coach told the ESPN reporter this weekend.

"Am I surprised? I hope it’s something that can come back. Look, Bill is a big part of my life. Bill gave me a tremendous opportunity, and I enjoyed that experience, and I respect him. It’s disappointing, the way it’s been. Hopefully, it can change at some point."

So what does Mangini need to do to make it up to Belichick? Let’s take a look at five things that will repair their relationship.

5. Mangini needs to do all of Belichick’s media appearances

We all know there’s only one thing Belichick hates more than Mangini. It’s doing those silly press conference before and after games. He often seems angry and doesn’t share much with journalists. It’s both awkward for the people asking the questions and for the Patriots’ coach.

His best line so far has been “On to — fill in the city of their next opponent –.” But you and I know that Belichick would much rather be in his office, watching film of different college players or their future opponents.

So what’s one of the things Eric Mangini should do to try and fix their relationship? Do all of Belichick’s mandated media appearances. Eric Mangini has experience in the media, working at ESPN and FS1, now he should be the official spokesperson for Bill Belichick.

This way, the Patriots’ leader gets to avoid the cameras, dumb questions and the media members. Mangini is more than capable and letting Belicheck off the hook could be the start of repairing their friendship.
