JaVale McGee bought a hat big enough to fit Zaza Pachulia’s giant head
By Ian Levy
The world can be a sad and lonely place when you’re head is bigger than the available haberdashery. Luckily, Zaza Pachulia has a friend like JaVale McGee.
It’s hard having a giant head. Your shoulders and neck hurt all the time. Mosquitos are inevitably pulled in by its gravity. Your high school baseball team has to special order your hat and when you move to Idaho and try to by a cowboy hat to fit in, the guy at the store looks at you with disgust and says, “I’m sorry Mr. Levy, but we simply don’t stock and 8-and-a-half.”
Zaza Pachulia knows this pain. He has a massive gourd, like a pumpkin on a toothpick. When his Warriors advanced through the Western Conference Finals, Zaza couldn’t get the official Finals hat on his head and his teammates had a hearty laugh at his expense.
Poor Zaza. It’s like he’s putting on a doll’s hat.
While his teammates might have poked fun at his enormous head, at least one of them felt some sympathy for Zaza’s physical predicament. In the interview, Curry and the interviewer discussed needing to find the biggest hat in the world for Zaza to wear for the Finals. JaVale McGee accepted that challenge and, judging by this Twitter video, appears to have succeeded.

This is what teammates are for, to love and support you no matter what. To go out of their way to make sure that, no matter who enormous your skull may be, you can still just celebrate like one of the guys.

This is probably JaVale’s way of saying thank you to Zaza for being his Secret Santa this year and hitting every Bay Area thrift store until he found that black cashmere turtleneck with the 9-foot sleeves. Just more evidence that the Warriors’ have a team culture that’s light years ahead.
