Kyle Lowry is set to cash in nicely in free agency this summer. Here are five potential destinations for him.

This side of Chris Paul, assuming he opts out of his contract too, Kyle Lowry is arguably the top free agent point guard this offseason. Coming off a season where he averaged 22.4 points (a career-high), 7.0 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, Lowry made the right choice to opt out of the final year of his contract with the Toronto Raptors and cash in bigger as an unrestricted free agent.

Lowry missed 22 games during the regular season, mostly with a wrist issue, and he was also bothered by back and ankle issues during the playoffs. Age (31) and durability may be concerns going forward, but in this NBA salary cap environment Lowry will not struggle for suitors.

Come July 1 and the start of free agency, here are five possible landing spots for Lowry.

5. Los Angeles Clippers

If Chris Paul is serious about considering other options in free agency, most notably the San Antonio Spurs, the Clippers will be left looking for a new point guard. Shy of a roster overhaul spurred further by Blake Griffin going elsewhere, finding another proven veteran lead guard would be a priority for Doc Rivers and company.

Lowry is a year younger than Paul, and a reasonable facsimile skill-wise. The Clippers don’t seem to think their window is closed, at least at the top levels of the organization, so Lowry would be a nice fit if Paul pulls a surprise and departs.
