So the MLB is going to be cool during Players’ Weekend from August 25 to 27. Players can wear nicknames on the back of their jerseys. Here are 10 we NEED.

It looks like baseball is going to take a picture out of the NBA’s keeping it interesting playbook. Before the Brooklyn Nets started to become absolutely horrendous and the Miami Heat were still a super team, they did a cool thing one time by rocking nicknames on the back of their jerseys during a game. Who could forget about Ray “Jesus Shuttlesworth” Allen?

This season from August 25 to August 27, the MLB will allow players to wear nicknames on the back of their jerseys for the one-of-a-kind Players’ Weekend. If this doesn’t help the MLB market its stars, nothing will.

Baseball NEEDs nicknames and other people besides Ichiro Suzuki rocking his given name on the back of his Miami Marlins jersey. Sure, he could troll everybody and go with Suzuki for once, but that’s no fun. What would have been fun is if this existed when David Ortiz played because Big Papi.

Either way, baseball should get excited about this monumental event. Here are the 10 nicknames we NEED during Players’ Weekend. Be cool, dudes and make it happen!

10.  Miguel Cabrera: Notorious M.I.G.

Since we can’t have Big Papi, we need the next best thing. Miggy, Miggy, Miggy, can’t you see putting Notorious M.I.G. on the back of your Tigers jersey? Miguel Cabrera has been the best pure-hitter in baseball for some time now. He’s won AL MVPs, a triple crown and even a World Series as a teen down in South Beach.

Basically, Cabrera has done everything to have solidified his Baseball Hall of Fame candidacy. What’s left for him to do besides help bring the Detroit Tigers a World Series? Honor Biggie Smalls during Players’ Weekend by going to bat to “Hypnotize”, “Juicy”, and “Big Poppa” while being the Notorious M.I.G. for Detroit baseball.

Comerica Park will love it when they call this Big Poppa to the plate. You would think it’s all a dream with Miggy at the bat with a Notorious M.I.G. jersey. If that’s too long because spelling is hard, just go with Miggy. It’s five letters and we can do this!

He doesn’t try that hard to be cool, so Cabrera is definitely one of the 10 coolest dudes in baseball. There would be nothing cooler on Planet Earth during Players’ Weekend than to see Cabrera hit for the cycle to lead the Tigers to victory.
