New Jersey Devils fans were not huge supporters of their new Adidas designed uniforms. So the team’s Twitter account fired back at the haters.

Adidas is in charge of designing uniforms for all NHL teams, starting in the 2017-18 season. Most teams saw very subtle changes, if any. However, the New Jersey Devils got a little bit of an overhaul.

The team has been very reluctant to change their jerseys at all in recent years, so the changes weren’t received well by fans. Naturally, fans got angry on Twitter and started yelling at the team account.

Eventually, the team had enough of the trolls. Or rather, maybe the poor intern running the Twitter account did. Because New Jersey took some time to remind their fans that they aren’t in charge of the jerseys.

Overall, the Devils uniforms are solid. They needed some change, as they haven’t been changed in a while. If the jerseys were outstanding, that would be understandable. But their uniforms have always been a little bit stale. Solid, but kind of boring. Adidas made some fairly subtle changes, but considering how reluctant the team has been to change anything about the uniforms, it feels like a huge change.

Adidas not only rebranded some uniforms, but also redesigned them. Their jerseys should be more optimal for performance. Players raved about the uniforms during the World Cup of Hockey, which Adidas was in charge of. They are a huge change from Reebok. Most notably, the bottoms are more free flowing, which should give the jerseys a better look and flow.

Meanwhile, New Jersey managed to deal with the changes fairly well. Nobody was going to like any amount of change, so they decided to approach the situation with some humor. Considering how boring most NHL twitter accounts are, the Devils definitely won the jersey reveal.
