NFL mock draft: SEC stars get moved around
By John Buhler
Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt ain’t walking through that door. Let’s just say maybe that starting quarterback Jared Goff improves ever so slightly in year two. Examples of this would be not leaning on Dylan Thompson to know where the sun goes in the quarterbacks room or be able to recognize when Richard Sherman is coming to rip your head off in highlight green on a scramble.
Basically, 2017 was an absolute disaster for the Los Angeles Rams. No longer are the 7-9 BS associated with the Jeff Fisher era. Head coach Sean McVay gets almost as many wins in his rookie year as he is years old. The defense was good, Todd Gurley was better and Goff was still pretty bad.
It’s time to blame Tavon Austin for the Rams having the worst record in the NFC. With the second pick, the Rams will take the best all-around wideout in the game in the Atlanta Falcons’ Julio Jones. Jones can do it all for the Falcons, playing X, Y, Z or any letter of the alphabet to label a receiver on a diagram.
Being that he is familiar with Rams offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur from their time together in Atlanta, the Rams will be better offensively by Jones’ arrival. With the power of Trick Montalban, Jones will do the impossible: make Goff look like his NFL quarterback prototype, Atlanta Falcons MVP quarterback Matt Ryan.
Well, they didn’t trade up this year. The Chicago Bears are now on the clock…
