Let’s just say after the 2017 NFL season, all the players with SEC roots will be redistributed via a one-of-a-kind draft. Here’s what it could look like.

We’re in that super slow part of the football season, where it’s starting to get hot outside, OTAs are done a training camp isn’t happening for several weeks. How on Planet Earth are us diehard football fans going to entertain ourselves in the meantime?

Sure, we could hit the same topics we always seem to go back to like “Who’s winning the Super Bowl?, “Which first-round pick will bust?” and “Is this the year the Buffalo Bills get back into the AFC Playoffs?”

While those are always a good time, we’re going to do something different today. Hypotheticals are where it’s at. Let’s just say that the New England Patriots win the Super Bowl…again and NFL commissioner has had enough of all that winning in Foxborough.

Somehow, he magically convinces the owners and the NFLPA that a redistribution draft of all SEC players that have made their NFL debuts prior to 2017. Sorry, Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers. You’re team was too good in 2017 to keep Julio Jones and Cam Newton for 2018 and beyond. It’s important that poorly run organizations like the Cleveland Browns, the

St. Louis

Los Angeles Rams and the New York Jets can win Super Bowls….NOW!

To set the ground rules, the draft rule is set by a mock projection of 2017’s regular season standings. One last thing, most of the Texas A&M and Missouri guys that matter aren’t eligible because Von Miller played in the Big 12. Congratulations, Denver Broncos! You lucked out more than when you landed Peyton Manning in free agency this one time.

Is Sam Hinkie working for Woody Johnson now? The New York Jets are now on the clock…

Matthew Stafford

Quarterback, Georgia Bulldogs

After a season in which Josh McCown got hurt in October, Bryce Petty failed to expand his game past the Air Raid attack and Christian Hackenburg completed 45 percent of his passes, the New York Jets are done messing around and will draft themselves a franchise quarterback.

Sure, they could see what USC’s Sam Darnold or UCLA’s Josh Rosen could bring into the fold as rookies, but New York has opted for the best arm talent available in the SEC pool: Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Even when he’s beat up playing for the Lions, Stafford has the best right arm in football. He can make all the throws to the many Jets receivers they don’t have. Though New York won’t win more than seven games in his first year with the Jets, Stafford brings enough stability to the quarterback position to put out this grease turned full-blown forest fire in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Adding Stafford makes the Jets at least five games better annually, even with zero talent around him. He did lead a rebuilding 2016 Lions team to a 9-7 record and a NFC playoff berth. Though he’s not going to rock a furry white coat or make guarantees in his bathing suit like Joe Namath did, Stafford would be by far and away the best quarterback New York has had since Namath. God bless Stafford is his new dysfunctional football situation. At least he’ll get paid handsomely.

2017 was so much worse than 7-9 BS. The Los Angeles Rams are now on the clock…
