4. James Johnson

Coming off the best season of his career, James Johnson has put himself in prime position for a nice pay day in free agency. The Miami Heat signed Johnson to a one-year deal worth $4 million, and that turned out to be a huge bargain for them.

Johnson quickly became a key catalyst for the Heat off the bench, flashing a superb overall game with averages of 12.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.1 blocks, and 1.1 steals per game. He brought it on both ends of the floor, and was a big reason why Miami turned their season around and almost snuck into the playoffs.

Johnson will surely be sought after in free agency, for his ability to stuff the stat sheet, and the versatility he brings to the table. It took Johnson nine seasons to finally live up to some of his potential and have a productive season, but it’s better to be a late-bloomer than to never have bloomed at all.
