Offense

Notable Losses: Quarterback DeShone Kizer is the most notable loss on offense. He left early for the NFL after starting the past two seasons for the Fighting Irish. Backup Malik Zaire also transferred to Florida, leaving the school with two fresh faces at the top of the depth chart.

QB: Brandon Wimbush, Junior

Notre Dame will have inexperienced quarterbacks playing in 2017. After getting time in the spring game, Brandon Wimbush should get the start at the signal caller position. He owns just 5 career pass attempts for 17 yards, all of which came in the 2015 season. Pressure will be on Wimbush to take over as the next quarterback and lead the team past its disappointing 2016 campaign. Will he pull it off?

RB: Josh Adams, Junior

The starting running back spot should remain the same in the fall, with Josh Adams keeping his job. Adams had 933 yards and 5 touchdowns last season, including 180 yards against USC, in the last game. He could face competition from Dexter Williams, however.

WR: Equanimeous St. Brown, Junior

Most of the starters at receiver will be back for Notre Dame, including Equanimeous St. Brown. He’s coming off 961 yards receiving and 9 touchdowns, and should be the top target for Wimbush to start the 2017 season.

WR: Kevin Stepherson, Sophmore

WR: Chase Claypool, Sophomore

TE: Duncan Smythe, Senior

As the veteran of the group, Durham Smythe will potentially land the starting job. However, the future may be in four-star recruits, Brock Wright and Cole Kmet. Could one of them take over this year?

LT: Mike McGlinchey, RS Senior

LG: Quenton Nelson, Senior

C: Sam Mustipher, Senior

RG: Alex Bars, Senior

RT: Tommy Kraemer, Sophomore
