How could the depth chart look for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the 2017 college football season?

The 2016 college football season didn’t work out for the Notre Dame football team, as they finished 4-8. It started with an opening loss to the Texas Longhorns, 50-47. This went to overtime and was an offensive shootout, one of the most prominent games of this kind last year.

The Fighting Irish only defeated the likes of Nevada, Syracuse, Miami and Army in 2016. They amassed 30-plus points in all four games, but had defensive problems in just about all of them.

The 2017 season is quickly approaching for Brian Kelly’s squad, however, which will potentially be a redemption-filled one. He’ll look to put together a team to take the field and start the year on a high note.

The offensive side of the ball will look different, as the top-two quarterbacks on the depth chart are out: DeShone Kizer and Malik Zaire. Kizer got selected by the Cleveland Browns in the 2017 NFL Draft, while Zaire transferred from the program, having one year of eligibility left.

Multiple players were lost on defense, as well. The program sent players to the NFL, most of which were undrafted free agents.

The Fighting Irish will try to thrive off last season’s disappointment. Their first game is on Saturday, Sep. 2, as they will host the Temple Owls. The depth chart will be set, by the time this game is played, but who could start for Notre Dame in this game and beyond?
