Jamie McMurray

Jamie McMurray has quietly had a pretty good Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season. The Chip Ganassi Racing driver is currently eighth in the NASCAR Cup Series championship standings, has qualified well for most races and has 10 finishes in the top 10 this year. We’ve also been reminded multiple times that he’s either fearless or slightly insane.

McMurray has no problem threading the needle with the No. 1 CGR car, driving it right up the middle of two lanes to make things three wide or squeezing every last inch of space out during close racing. Sometimes that causes wrecks but sometimes it also gets him past in situations where he shouldn’t be able to get by. That’s the kind of aggressive driving and crafty thinking you’d want from a getaway driver. You don’t want him stuck in traffic or worrying when the police throw up a roadblock; you want the guy who’s going to drive through the roadblock and not look back.

The Missouri native is also a Daytona 500 winner and a winner of the prestigious Rolex 24 at Daytona sportscar endurance race, and he’s only one of two drivers in motorsports history who can claim that (the other being the next name on this list). That means he can win on the big stage and put in long hours if that’s what it takes to get the job done.

Jamie McMurray is the getaway driver to call when your heist is a particularly complicated plan, or just needs that guy who isn’t afraid of a little contact. He’ll be able to find a way to make it work.
