Offense

Notable Losses:
Tommy Armstrong is no longer under center with the Cornhuskers. His five years are up and that means a new quarterback will take over. Terrell Newby and Jordan Westerkamp made names for themselves on offense and were explosive players. Their impact will be missed right away.

QB: Tanner Lee, RS Junior

With Armstrong and Ryker Fyfe gone, the team will turn to Tanner Lee. The redshirt transfer from Tulane is going to have step in and find some continuity with new receivers and backs early in the season to be successful. The buzz around Lee is solid thus far and he will have all eyes on him entering the season.

RB: Mikale Wilbon, RS Junior

With Terrell Newby no longer lining up at running back for Nebraska, it could come down to one of three guys. Mikale Wilbon could be the guy lining up at I-back, or one of Devine Ozigbo or Tre Bryant. They’ll have their options. Bryant has blazing speed and can make highlight plays in a flash.

WR: Stanley Morgan Jr., Junior

WR: Bryan Reimers, RS Junior

WR: De’Mornay Pierson-El, Senior

The Cornhuskers are going to have to replace quite a bit of production here. Westerkamp and others leaving means senior De’Mornay Pierson-El is going to be relied on heavily to provide experience. This group and Lee at quarterback are going to have to get comfortable fast.

TE: Tyler Hoppes, Senior

This is another one of those positions where it could be a couple of guys starting. Hoppes by virtue of being a senior could and should end up being the play here.

LT: Nick Gates, RS Junior

LG: Jerald Foster, RS Junior

C: Michael Decker, RS Sophomore

RG: Tanner Farmer, RS Junior

RT: David Knevel, RS Senior

If there is one plus to the offense virtually turning over everything, it’s the fact that the offensive line has plenty of experience. This group will be able to protect a new quarterback and give him time to make decisions. This is one area where Mike Riley can breathe a sigh of relief.
