The Astros maintained their 16.5-game lead in the AL West after taking two games out of three from Minnesota. Jose Altuve, Marwin Gonzalez and Brian McCann all homered in the series, and Altuve led the club with five hits in the second half opening set.

Mike Fiers allowed two earned runs and struck out 11 without a walk in seven innings Sunday. Fiers has a 2.65 ERA across three starts in July and has held opponents to a .183 batting average during the month.
