Cody Thompson

Wide Receiver, Toledo Rockets

Cody Thompson from Toledo is one of the best wide receivers in all of college football, and was recently announced to be on the Biletnikoff Award watch list for 2017. After a breakout season for the Rockets in 2016, where he set a school-record by racking up 1,269 yards, Thompson returns as an All-American candidate. His impact on the field is only matched by his impact on the community, where he is an even bigger star.

Thompson is an incredible leader on the field, helping the Toledo Rockets have one of the better passing attacks in the MAC. Off the field, Thompson heads into the 2017 season as not only a member of the Wuerffel Trophy watch list, but also the Campbell Award, as well as being named to the Allstate Good Works Team. He does an incredible job balancing his football career, while being a pillar in the community.

During his time on campus, the senior has made numerous trips to local schools, as well as being very active with those in need. He has also been an all-star in the classroom, being one of those rare student-athletes that really excels in both areas. The Rockets are going to be a solid team this season because of Thompson, and the community is in good hands as long as he is on campus.

It is incredibly difficult to do what some of these student-athletes do, but in the long run, it makes them much better adults. Only a very small percent of players end up in the NFL, so it is important that they continue to dominate in their studies. Thompson will be a fringe NFL prospect heading into the 2018 NFL Draft, but he certainly has a bright future ahead of him.
