Giancarlo Stanton blasts home run No. 41 on the season (Video)

Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton continued his hot streak on Saturday, blasting his 41st home run on the season
Giancarlo Stanton hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning of Saturday’s game, leading the Marlins to a 4-3 win over the Rockies.
The homer is Stanton’s 41st of the season and eighth in the past nine games. He has 15 RBIs in that span.

Stanton went deep on a 1-1 pitch off Colorado starter Jeff Hoffman with two outs in the inning, bringing home Miguel Rojas, who singled, and Dee Gordon, who reached on a fielder’s choice. The blast gave Miami a 4-1 lead.
Stanton hit a one-out double (his 25th of the season) in the first inning and later scored on a Marcell Ozuna groundout. He hit a one-out single in the third, but was stranded on second as the Marlins left the bases loaded.
The 3-for-r4 night lifts Stanton to a .366 average (15-for-41) in August.
Stanton’s home run total is his highest single-season mark, surpassing the 37 he hit in both 2012 and 2014. He now has 89 RBIs this season, second only to the he had in 2014.
Stanton has played for the Marlins franchise his entire career. He hit 22 home runs in his 2010 rookie season and added 34 the following year. In 2012, the Marlins officially changed their name from Florida to Miami, and Stanton went from being Mike (his middle name) to Giancarlo.
He made the All-Star team for the first time in 2012, but slumped to 24 homers the following year. Stanton bounced back for his career year in 2014, winning the NL home run crown, the Hank Aaron Award and a Silver Slugger Award.

Stanton made the All-Star team for the third time in 2015 after hitting 27 home runs in just 74 games, but he missed the rest of the season after breaking a bone in his hand. He hit 27 homers last year.
Miami began the day in second place in the National League East,14.5 games behind the Washington Nationals. The Marlins are 9.5 games behind the Arizona Diamondbacks for the second NL Wild Card spot.
