4. Joining the Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers are fighting hard to return to their glory days. Wade would not help that with this upcoming season. Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka, however, have shown that they are not just thinking about the 2017-18 season. They are both in this for the long haul and know the power the Lakers brand has with players.

The Lakers are undergoing a youth movement with the current top players on their roster all still on their rookie contracts. They were able to unload the disastrous contract of Timofey Mozgov but it cost them D’Angelo Russell in the process. They replaced Russell with this past year’s number two pick in the draft, Lonzo Ball. Their core now centers around Ball and last year’s number two pick Brandon Ingram.

This is where Wade comes in. Even though his career is winding down, people around the league still respect him and he is part of the infamous banana boat crew. Magic Johnson would be wise to snatch up Wade now in hopes that him being there may attract LeBron James there next off-season.

James has a house in L.A. and is very fond of the city. Rumors have been swirling since this past years’ NBA Finals. Reports surfaced yesterday, and were quickly shot down, that LeBron has already made his mind up about leaving Cleveland. Wade could attract LeBron more than the lure of Los Angeles itself. It also could open the door for other stars to join the former Heatles to create the next super team in L.A.

If Wade is more interested in winning now though, then he’d be wise to ignore the Lakers and head to the next team.
