National Dog Day: 15 NBA players who really love their dogs
7. Blake Griffin, Los Angeles Clippers + Chaney
Since 2012 Blake and his dog Chaney have stolen our hearts with their lighthearted and loving friendship. The Rhodesian Ridgeback and Los Angeles Clippers Big Man are quite the pair, both adorable and goofy. Blake, who doesn’t often post on Instagram, does bless us with occasional updates on Chaney. Most recently, we learned that Chaney, now a teenager (in dog years, of course) got his own memory foam bed, but doesn’t like to share. Chaney, also, seems to have no problem falling asleep just about anywhere and making himself comfy, especially when he’s curled up next to his pal Blake. When he’s not hanging out with Blake, Chaney’s usually doing some typical dog stuff like enjoying some backyard fun with his cousin.
What we love most about this duo? That Blake’s wit and humor carry over into his posts about his pup. That’s true friendship. Blake told Ramona Shelburne in a 2013 interview that his ideal night is, “staying in to watch games on NBA League Pass with a buddy and his dog, a Rhodesian ridgeback.” There’s posts highlighting such nights – one of Chaney’s crazy eyes and Blake’s crazy kicks. Another of Chaney, aka Freako Suave, looking very, well, suave as he’s posted up in the Griffin household. Chaney’s always been a suave and adorable dog, and there’s proof in the posts dating back to 2012. With CP3 now in Houston, we’re glad Blake has Chaney to kick back and chill with. Happy National Dog Day, B & C!
