8. Ben Simmons, Philadelphia 76ers + Flash &  Chief

The number one pick in the 2016 NBA draft is a well-known animal lover. Among his furry family are two F2 Savannah cats and a gorgeous Cane Corso named Chief. When Chief’s not busy making appearances at the 76ers practice facilities, he’s curled up next to Ben or learning to pick his battles with his brother cat. His most recent addition to the clique, however, has me very heart-eyed emoji. Flash the Frenchie sports a crisp grey coat and dazzling blue eyes that’ll melt your heart.

We’ve learned a lot about Flash since he joined the Simmons squad this past April. Things like having a preference for strawberries and being able to fall asleep just about anywhere. Seriously, anywhere. No, seriously, anywhere. He also loves to play cards, Uno to be specific.

Maybe Flash’s cutest trait is one that follows suit of the greatest to ever play the game of basketball, his tiny little tongue hangs out like MJ.

While I’m still enamored with Flash and Chief, I’m really looking forward to seeing who Ben adds next to his coterie of critters. And on that note, here’s to wishing a very happy National Dog Day to the ever-exquisite and simply stunning Simmons’.
