Derwin James

S, Florida State

The Florida State Seminoles are seen by many as a College Football Playoff lock. A good reason for that is the return of Derwin James. After he suffered a lateral meniscus tear toward the beginning of last season, the Seminoles lost one of their leaders.

Florida State still managed to put together a dynamic season that culminated with a victory in the Orange Bowl. With James back in the fold, the potential for the team is that much higher and they have a chance for a special season.

One need to looks no further than his 2015 season to get excited about what exactly he brings from the safety position. There are certain safeties that strike fear into everyone and James is one of those because of his last full season.

During that year, he finished with 91 tackles, 4.5 sacks and had 9.5 tackles for loss. He wasn’t just playing the safety position, he was in the backfield causing nightmares for quarterbacks and running backs alike.

He’s put in the work to get healthy and will be one of the most, if not the most dynamic player in the country this season. He’s a rare talent that can take a unit to the next level by himself and that’s why he should one of the first off the board in the draft.
