Christian Wilkins

DL, Clemson

Fresh off of winning their National Championship, the Clemson Tigers opened up things in style at home against Kent State on Saturday. They rolled to a 56-3 blowout and Christian Wilkins and company had a nice day defensively.

Although the defense didn’t force any turnovers or end up with a sack, they held their opponents to just three points. Moving the ball was a tough task for a Kent State team that finished the day with one single passing yard. That’s not a typo.

They had more success on the ground, but it was a good showing nonetheless for Clemson. Wilkins finished the day with just one tackle and nothing that really jumps off the stat sheet, but part of that is the position he plays.

In a blowout like this, it gave time for others to get some burn on the field. Wilkins is going to keep making a name for himself as the season goes on with his tremendous athletic ability for his size. This was a great start for Clemson and anyone on their defense that wants to get a big start going into the draft next year.

However, it won’t be as easy next week. Wilkins and the rest of the defense better be ready for a much more stout test with Auburn. The two sides played a close one to kick off the season last year.
