College Football Week 2: NFL Draft big board – Josh Rosen takes command
One of the elite edge defenders quickly making moves is Kansas EDGE defender Dorance Armstrong Jr. After a 10 sack campaign last year, Armstrong Jr. got things off on the right foot on Saturday, when he combined for a sack on Southeast Missouri State quarterback Jesse Hosket.
It was certainly a nice win for a Jayhawks team that is hoping to make some serious improvements in the win column this year. To do that, it starts with guys like Armstrong repeating what he did last season.
He has the frame that scouts love from an EDGE defender at 6’4″ and certainly has the speed to get to the quarterback. Playing for Kansas can make it hard to get national recognition, but he’s making sure everyone quickly takes notice.
Along with his sack in the opener, he finished with three tackles as well. He’s certainly a player ranked high on potential at the moment but is showing the raw talent necessary to be a first-round pick.
His relentless motor also has played a huge factor in his success. He isn’t a player that is going to get a reputation for making the big play and then taking the next few off. He’ll chase the ball carrier down the field if he has to.
