Syracuse Orange 1-0

Last week: Won 50-7 over Central Connecticut State
Last rank: 12

In a week full of a lot of changes across the entire power rankings, there are still a few teams sticking around at last week’s spots heading into Week 2, and Syracuse is one of them.

The Orange put on a solid showing to open up their second on Friday, starting the year with a 50-7 win over Central Connecticut State in an absolute blowout. However, they still have a ton of questions surrounding them and their relatively new era under head coach Dino Babers. It’ll take a bit more in a bigger game for the Orange to really jump in the ACC power rankings.

Boston College Eagles 1-0

Last week: Won 23-20 over Northern Illinois
Last rank: 13

Boston College fans were mad at their ranking at number 13 in last week’s power rankings, and it looks like the Eagles players may have been just as upset with the rating themselves with how they played on Friday.

The Eagles had a close game with Northern Illinois on Friday, coming out with a 23-20 win over the Huskies to open the year. While it wasn’t exactly a big win or a blowout by any means, it still shows a lot that Boston College is keeping up with their momentum from last year.

Add in some poor performances from North Carolina and some other teams just ahead of them on the rankings, and the Eagles could be on the rise over the next few weeks.
