Fantasy football: top 10 waiver wire Week 1 pickups
8. Kendall Wright
After Cameron Meredith was officially lost for the season, fantasy owners have been scrambling to work out which player will see the targets in the Chicago offense in 2017. Right now, both the “KWs” – Wright and Kevin White sit at the top of the depth chart, and Mike Glennon will want to find a go-to target.
White was drafted seventh overall just two years ago by the Bears, but has only played in four NFL games so far after missing his entire rookie season, then most of 2016. Even though he’s finally “healthy”, his preseason performance this year was far from inspiring. He might still be getting up to speed, but he’s looked slow and underwhelming, and we have to wonder how much patience the team will exercise with him if he doesn’t start performing soon.
Behind the starters, the rest of the receiving depth chart is made up of Deonte Thompson, Markus Wheaton, Tre McBride and Josh Bellamy, none of whom have had any significant production or showed real promise in this league.
That leaves Wright, who fell out of favor at Tennessee but does have a 90-catch, 1,000-yard season in his resumé. He could be a difference-maker in PPR leagues.
